Wet Dreams May Come
by Andrew Coimbra
A wet dream-also called a nocturnal emission-is when you cum (ejaculate) in your sleep. Ejaculating while you sleep is usually because you're dreaming about something sexual, but not always. The dream could be completely unrelated to sex.
Wet dreams are most common during puberty 'cause those pesky hormones are constantly telling your body to step up production of all the parts involved with sex. That means your brain gets signals to think about sex more often, your balls produce more sperm, and your penis gets hard more often. All that stuff combined can make your sleeping self get stimulated enough to release the sperm as cum (semen).
Although wet dreams are most common between the ages of 12 and 18, some guys go through puberty without ever having a wet dream, and you can still have them as an adult. Generally, wet dreams become less frequent after puberty. Also, a guy who masturbates or is otherwise regularly sexually active tends to have fewer wet dreams.
